First of all, we want to thank you for taking time to consider our family as an option for your child. We have been considering adoption for quite some time. As prospective adoptive parents, we feel that it is important to share information with you about us, the people who might be playing such an important part in your child's life. Hopefully, you can see from our picture and read from our sincere words that our family will provide a stable and loving home for your child. Your child will always know how special you are and how much you love him or her.
MEET OUR FAMILY
We have been richly blessed as a family with two children, Brittany, age sixteen, and Derek, age thirteen. Parenting is a gift we cherish, but we firmly believe it is God's will that we have another child.
Shelly
As a stay at home mom, taking care of my family’s needs gives me a very fulfilling life. I recently resigned from a supervisory position with a local business to be able to spend more time with my husband and children. With our decision to add another child to our family, I want to be home and available for the additional responsibilities and needs of a young child.
I attended college and earned an Associate Degree in Business which allowed me to be successful in my past employment. Although I enjoyed my work, the job did not give me the rewards and feeling of gratification that I enjoy as a stay home mom.
Granville
My husband, Granville is just as excited as me about the prospect of adopting a baby. He has so much love to give and is a wonderful husband and father. Granville is a very responsible person and offers our family financial stability. He is currently employed as a Chief Miner's Electrician.
Granville has strong Christian values. He teaches the Adult Sunday School Class where we attend church. Not only is he a spiritual leader there but he also takes the same position as spiritual leader in our home.
Granville loves to hunt and fish whenever he gets the chance. Sometimes this can make dinner a real treat!
We have a large extended family who is very excited about our decision to adopt. With Granville's six siblings and my two brothers, there is a lot of love in our family. We love getting together for birthdays, holidays, Sunday dinners, or whenever the opportunity arises.
Our Children
Brittany
Brittany, our daughter, is very sociable and she has an out-going spirit. She loves sports and enjoys playing both softball and soccer. She also loves to swim and looks forward to being a life guard at our local community pool. For quiet time, Brittany enjoys reading a good book and she finds it a great way to relax.
Our daughter has an innate love for children and she enjoys babysitting. She finds spending time with children to be very rewarding. It gives her the learning experience she will need in her own future.
Derek
Derek is also quite friendly and out-going. He enjoys spending time with family and friends. He thinks entertaining the little ones is a special joy. Derek is well balanced as a student, talented musician, and athlete. If he is not playing football, basketball or baseball for his school team, he is sharing his musical talent by playing guitar with a local Blue Grass Band. Derek also enjoys fishing and hunting.
OUR VALUES
Our home is centered on the teaching of Jesus Christ. We strive to instill the same values in our family that are found in the Bible. God's Word gives us the guidelines for teaching and promoting spiritual growth in our children. We feel that it is important to teach our children the values that they will need to grow into successful adults.
OUR TIME TOGETHER
Family time plays and important part of our everyday lives. Whether it's a time of play, or a time of just hanging around the house, being together is what it's all about. Sometimes, Brittany and I just enjoy taking a walk around the neighborhood, or we may stop by the local pool for a swim. This gives us a chance to talk. I feel that keeping open channels of communication with your children is extremely important.
Fishing can be quite a challenging experience for the guys. Both Derek and Granville have a competitive nature. It's not unusual for them to enjoy a friendly fishing competition. Wonder who will get the biggest catch?
Both Granville and I feel it is important to schedule one-on-one time with our children but we really look forward to times when the whole gang can be together. Some of our favorite places for family vacations include Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, Dollywood and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. We have learned that the place we visit is not nearly as important as the opportunity it gives us to spend time together.
CONSIDER OUR FAMILY
In closing, we would like to invite you to consider us as the family for your child. We will consider it a wonderful blessing to make your child a part of our family. By allowing us to adopt your child we can promise he or she will grow up in a home that stresses Christian values. Many hours of prayer were spent regarding our desire for a child and we know that God has led us to adopt. We are committed to love and nurture your child and provide for all his or her needs. Thank you for considering our family.
