We treasure our love and life together. Four years ago, through the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia, we adopted Katie and now we long to share our lives with more children. Although we live in a small, rural community, there is nothing small about the room in our hearts and home for love. Although, we are unable to have children biologically, we strongly empathize with birth parents who are not in a position to parent their child.

Their Life and Values

We met at a church camp. We dated and corresponded for about one and a half years prior to our marriage. We have been married over twenty-one years. We believe that the strength of our marriage is built on our core Christian values, common backgrounds and our calm, gentle temperaments. Our love of Katie has enriched our relationship together.

We are very optimistic and easy going. We believe that the best way to parent a child is to provide positive instruction, modeling and example. Katie might be found “helping” her daddy on his John Doe tractor, or “assisting” her mother with cake decorating for a friend. We also enjoy travel and have taken Katie on many fun trips all over the country from Yellowstone Park to Hershey Park to the Smokey Mountains. Each year, we look forward to a special trip to the Disney on Ice show.

Greg

Greg, an independent contractor, can best be described as youthful, fun-loving, friendly, and pleasant. He exemplified good managerial skills by working through the ranks of his construction company, first as a skilled laborer and now as the owner. Through his diligence and hard work, his family has a solid, secure income. He enjoys a great sense of humor and is firmly grounded in his Christian faith. He loves being a parent to Katie.

Betty

Betty is gentle, kind-hearted, cheerful, upbeat and patient. She is a very skilled homemaker who enjoys all aspects of home management. She has repeatedly won awards within the region for her cooking skills. She loves homemaking, cooking, housekeeping, travel and most importantly, she loves being a full-time parent. She cherishes her family, her activities within the church, and she has a deep, Christian faith.

Katie

Katie is sweet, even-tempered and loving. She loves being with other children and has an abundance of toys to share. She also has developed a great love for animals. Her knowledge and level of understanding never ceases to amaze those around her!

Home & Community

Our home is often filled with friends and family enjoying meals and good-times. We designed and built our home which exemplifies our ability to work together in harmony as a team. We are known for our hospitality and special celebrations of life, whether it is for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays or after-church dinners. Betty makes sure everyone is well fed while Greg and Katie do the entertaining. Although we are an energetic, active family, there is also a sense of calm and peace within our home.

We have a simple lifestyle built on the joys of our strong and sincere Christian faith and values. We are a tradition-rich household which is financially, emotionally, and spiritually secure. We are resourceful, well-organized, active and popular leaders within our community. Although we are unable to have children biologically, we strongly empathize with birth parents that are not in a position to parent. We will respect some degree of contact with birth parents.
