“Thank you for choosing to read about us. We’re sure that making an adoption decision for your child must have been difficult and we are thankful for your decision. Whether you choose us, or another family to be the adoptive parents of your child, we want you to know that you will be making a dream come true for a special child and loving family. We hope that by reading about us, you will feel confident that we will make great parents for your child.”
“My name is Lisa and my husband’s name is Kevin, we have been married for 17 years. It has always been our dream to have a family but it hasn’t worked out for us biologically. We have been through several failed attempts of artificial insemination and fertility drugs to make our dream come true. We believe that it is God’s plan for us to adopt our child to complete our dream of having a family, that’s what brings us to write this letter to you.”
Getting to know us …
Kevin and I met 18 years ago, while I was working in a shoe store. He came in to buy a pair of shoes and I sold him everything to go along with the shoes. We kept bumping into each other until finally he asked me out. After 4 months, Kevin proposed and we were married 5 months later.
Kevin and I have a wonderful marriage and are surrounded by loving, caring family members and friends. We have a dog, a Maltese, named Cotton, who has been with us for 15 years. She is a very sweet natured dog and loves playing with children. I believe sometimes she actually thinks she is human; our parent’s joke with us, saying that she is their oldest grandchild.
Things we do for fun …
Over the years we have enjoyed great family vacations. We have been to the beach and Great Smokey Mountains with Kevin’s family and enjoy visiting my mom’s family near Washington, D.C. and going to Bluegrass Festival’s and concerts. We get together with our families just about every holiday. It may be a cookout, dinner, pool party at our house or just a regular visit, but we are very fortunate to have loving caring family on both sides, not everyone is so blessed.
Our favorite holiday is Christmas; we always spend the night (every Christmas Eve) at Kevin’s parent’s home. The whole family is there gathered around the tree, eating, playing games and singing Christmas carols with the kids. Around 11 pm we open presents and celebrate. We always have such a great time! On Christmas morning, we travel over to my parents, where we all open presents and get ready to travel to my grandmother’s for dinner. It’s always fun to watch my nieces and nephews open their presents (together we have 3 nieces and 3 nephews), they get so excited, they want to play with everything at once. We have celebrated Christmas this way for 18 years and we look forward to having a child to share our wonderful families with.
We spend most of our evenings snuggled in front of the TV with Cotton, in the summer taking a swim in our pool or enjoying the night air in our hot tub on the back deck. Kevin has gotten me into bowling and I am getting pretty good at it. We spend as much time together as possible. We are active in our church and I sing at most of our services, God has blessed me with a voice to sing and I am truly thankful for it.
On a Personal note:
Kevin’s thoughts about Lisa…
Lisa has red hair (not natural) with blonde highlights and hazel eyes. She is the most wonderful person I have ever met. They say “the eyes are the window to the soul” and that is the truest statement I have ever heard when it comes to Lisa. She has the most beautiful eyes; they are warm, caring, understanding and all knowing. I sincerely believe that she is my soul mate. She has a close relationship with her family. She has two sisters and one brother, to which she is the oldest. Her relationship with her mother and sisters is very special, they talk at least three times a day. Lisa has been employed as a Payroll Manager for four years but has worked for the same company for 12 years. She is a BIG craft’s person; needlepoint, scrap booking, crochet, sewing, I’m not sure that there is a craft she hasn’t tried. She also enjoys taking pictures and spending time with friends.
Lisa’s thoughts about Kevin…
Kevin has dark brown hair with a lot of gray running through it and brown eyes. He is a very loving, caring person. He is truly my best friend. When I am down, he picks me up. When I think that I can’t do something, he is my biggest fan. I am truly blessed and I thank God for sending him to me. He is very close with his family. He has one brother and one sister. Being the oldest of three, his parents are very dependent upon him. Kevin has been employed as a Sales Engineer for the past eight years which has him traveling quite a bit but we are fortunate that he is able to be home every evening. He is an avid photographer and has taken some beautiful pictures of the wild life that frequent our back yard, family and friends. He has taken some of our nieces and nephews that are just beautiful! We have dedicated one wall in our home to these photos. Kevin is vice-president of the local bowling league and enjoys hunting, fishing and playing golf. We have been remodeling our home and Kevin enjoys doing most of the work himself.
Where we live…
Our home is nestled away in a small neighborhood. We live on 2.5 wooded acres with abundant wildlife that lends to us being outdoors a lot. We have been remodeling our home for about two years and are almost finished. We live a modest lifestyle in a modest neighborhood. The neighborhood has children playing all the time. Since we have a pool, our house has been the hangout for the kids during the summer. The people that live here are the kindest and most considerate we have ever been around. We couldn’t have picked a better place to live! It’s great to be able to enjoy the benefits of a quiet neighborhood and only be a few miles from town.
Our beliefs and values…
Coming from caring families, our values and beliefs really come natural for us. We are in no way perfect and do not judge people based on their appearances. GOD is a big part of our life and we are happy to have him guide us through this journey called life. Our values are based in the belief that everyone has something to offer to this world, whether it is wisdom or philosophy.
Discipline is important and must be fair and never done out of anger. We believe that talking to a child can do more than a spanking could ever do. By talking to the child you begin a path of understanding that will guide them throughout their life. Our hope is to raise our child to be a compassionate, caring, loving and independent person. Children have a gift to offer this world and we will encourage them to explore and expand the gift(s) that they have. Education is very important to us and we will plan for our child’s educations from early on. We enjoy children; it’s amazing when they discover something for the first time.
We hope by selecting us as the adoptive parents of your child that you will have a sense of security knowing that your child will be loved and very special. May you find comfort knowing that your child will be a true blessing and will help complete our family. We sincerely thank you for considering us to be the adoptive parents for your child.
May God bless you on your journey,
Kevin and Lisa
