Dear Birthparents,

We hope you are doing well at this difficult time. We want you to know that the decision to place your child for adoption is a selfless act. We admire the care you are putting into planning the best possible future for you and your child. Adoption is a blessing to all those involved and we are grateful to be a part of it.

We are Sonny and April. We met at a Boy Scout Camp, during an Explorer Post weekend. We were both there as advisors with our respective Explorer Posts. Right at the start we shared a love for children. After getting to know each other better, we found out that we shared much more in common. We love music and playing our instruments, which we often do at church. We enjoy tennis and basketball as well as reading. We found that we both shared a strong faith in God. Our wedding was a special day about 3 years ago. It was a day we shared with our friends and family. Our marriage is based on honesty, love and friendship and about standing beside each other through all the good and bad times.

We are both very active in the church. April is the coordinator of the Nursery and Sonny teaches a Sunday school class, and also operates the sound and recording equipment. We both help out where needed at our Vacation Bible School each year. Our church is very child oriented, there is always something going on for the kids. Both our families are very supportive of our decision to adopt. Sonny’s family lives 10 minutes away and we see them all the time and talk daily. April’s family lives about 2 ½ hours away and we see them regularly and talk often. Our parents are overjoyed at the prospect of their first grandchild.

Our house is a cozy, warm and inviting place with a large back yard, just waiting for a swing set! We grow a vegetable garden and flowers there. Riggins and Sam are our energetic and loving terriers who play in the fenced area in the yard and love kids, especially when our neighbor’s boys come to visit and play with them. Jesse and Cole are our loveable cats who like to play and love treats. They are willing to keep you company any hour of the day or night.

We welcome the chance to exchange photos and letters over the years to come. We hope this letter gives you a better sense of who we are and what is important to us. We know the decision you make for your child and yourself will be difficult, courageous and rooted in love and we wish you the best.
